Having a Baby

If you’re pregnant and you want to continue with your pregnancy your first step will be to talk to your GP so that antenatal care can be arranged for you. Your GP or midwife will give you advice and information on how to stay healthy during the pregnancy.

Smoking, drinking alcohol or taking drugs can be harmful to you and your baby, and  you should stop as soon as you discover you are pregnant.

If you are a first time mum, under 20, you will be offered close support throughout your pregnancy and up until your baby is two, from a specialist nurse whose job is specifically to work with young mums.
